Join Wayne State College In Raising Money For Backpack Program Saturday

WAYNE – During the upcoming Wayne State College women’s and men’s basketball home contest on Saturday, February 4, help raise money for the Wayne Backpack Program.

The Wildcats will host Minnesota Crookston with the women starting at 4 p.m. and the men to follow at 6 p.m.

Sponsored by the Wayne State College Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Third annual “Pie-To-The-Face” will take place at half of the men’s game. The five contestants are made up of a WSC coach, faculty member, athlete, Athletic Director and member of the community.

Mike Powicki (AD), Alex Koch (head baseball  coach), Zach Osborn (WSC quarterback), Dr. Jeryl Nelson (faculty) and Scott Saul (community) are the contestants.

When you make your way into the gym drop money in the buckets set outside the main entrance. The candidate who receives the most money will get a Pie-to-the-face.

Money raised will be donated to the Wayne Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides a weekend supply of nutritious food for children, commonly for low income families, to replace the school meals that children miss during their weekend or extended breaks from school.
