SEWARD – As Princess Karis Crosmer arrived in downtown Seward for her coronation, a crowd of people cheered her name and held up signs.
The five-year-old has battled Leukemia for a majority of her life, but Sunday was a time for celebrating. Karis has been cancer-free for almost a year, just in time to take the trip of her dreams.
Seward Mayor Josh Eickmeier tells News Channel Nebraska, “As part of this, was for her then to be able to go to Disney and meet other Princesses. Definitely a very special day here for our community, as you can see everyone comes together, and gave a proper send-off.”
Prince Charming announced Karis’ dream vacation, “Four tickets for you, your mother, your father and your sister to go to ‘The Most Magical Kingdom on Earth.’ Princess Karis, you and your family are going to Disney World.”
The family, originally from Ohio, tells News Channel Nebraska they are taken back by the community’s support for their family.
Karis’ mother Lori Crosmer says, “We come to this amazing small town out in Nebraska, which we are familiar with because my husband went to Concordia, and we have friends out here. But, just pulling together for the sweet, little five-year-old that’s only been a resident for a few months, it’s just amazing to see.”
Karis got her own private tea party with friends and Princess Belle following her parade.
A Princess for a day and a memory for a lifetime.
