Pierce, NE — One of two people considered a “person of interest” in the apparent death of 24-year-old Sydney Loofe is no stranger to authorities in northeast Nebraska.
51-year-old Aubrey Trail served two years in prison and was ordered to pay $2,600 in restitution following a 1999 forgery conviction in Pierce County.
Trail and his 23-year-old female partner, Bailey Boswell, are believed to be two of the last people to see Loofe alive before she was reported missing Nov. 16.
After posting a Facebook video saying they had nothing to do with Loofe’s death, the pair was arrested and jailed on charges unrelated to the Loofe case.
Authorities have yet to file charges against Trail or Boswell.
While Loofe’s parents mourn their daughter’s death, police are waiting for final confirmation that the body found in rural Clay County earlier this week is that of the Neligh native who was living in Lincoln before she went missing.
Police have released few details surrounding the death but did say “foul play” was suspected.
Trail is currently being held at a southeast Nebraska jail.
