Local Crime Briefs For Monday, August 7

FREMONT – A Valley man was cited on a domestic assault charge after an incident early Saturday morning.

Fremont Police were called to the 1200 block of N. Platte Avenue at approximately 1:36 a.m. Saturday in regards to a domestic disturbance that had taken place. After investigation, it was determined that an assault had taken place and 29-year old Cody J. Ward of Valley was arrested for third-degree domestic assault.

Meanwhile, a man suffered minor injuries after a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning.

The victim reports that they were crossing Broad Street at the intersection with 22nd Street at approximately 1:36 a.m. Saturday when their vehicle was struck by a sedan, causing minor shoulder and neck injuries. The victim did not require transport to the hospital and investigation continues.

Fremont Police are investigating a theft incident of various items from a Fremont residence late Friday evening.

Officers were called to a home in the 300 block of S. Williams Avenue at approximately 10:39 p.m. Friday in regards to a theft that had taken place. The victim reports that a 46″ television, a 42″ television, a DVD player and a kitchen appliance were stolen from the residence. The total loss is estimated at $1,600. Investigation continues.

A Fremont woman was also cited on a shoplifting charge on Saturday afternoon.

Fremont Police were called to Walmart in the 3000 block of E. 23rd Avenue North at approximately 1:00 p.m. Saturday on a shoplifting incident. After investigation, 22-year old Misty R. Acker of Fremont was cited for shoplifting after attempting to take various items from the business including Band-Aids, baby items, and over the counter medication.
