Music in the Park Debuts in Norfolk

NORFOLK – Thursday night Norfolk residents that attended ‘Music in the Park’ received an evening of relaxation and, of course, music.

Soul Dawg was on the stage Thursday, and they didn’t disappoint the crowd — cranking out classics, including some Motown hits.

This series is new for Norfolk, who took inspiration from Omaha’s ‘Jazz on the Green’. The town is testing out the series and seeing how interested Norfolk residents are in free park concerts.

The whole series is set to be placed at Skyview Park and the other dates for the jazz series are July 7th, July 20th and August 10th. While the show had a good number of people attending, Norfolk resident Ginger Marr thought that more advertising for the series would be helpful.

“Advertise it more, it’s really hard to find the information for it…I looked in the paper and I could only find it one time,” says Marr.

One thing that certainly did attract people was the fact that concert-goers could bring in alcoholic beverages. So plenty of attendees sipped a glass of wine or drank a beer while enjoying the tunes.
