Nebraska State Patrol Conducts Otoe, Saunders Counties Compliance Checks

BEATRICE – A recent Nebraska State Patrol compliance check for liquor laws, netted seven restaurants, bars, businesses and a VFW Club that failed the inspection.

Investigators conducted the alcohol inspections in Otoe and Saunders Counties on November 18th, checking a total of 56 locations in the two counties.  The sweep was conducted to determine if a business is checking minors for identification, prior to selling alcohol

Two of 26 businesses checked in Saunders County sold alcohol to a minor.  Five of 30 business locations checked in Otoe County, sold alcohol to a minor.

Those locations selling to a minor are reported to the Nebraska Liquor Commission, and any clerk selling alcohol to a minor is ticketed for procuring alcohol for a minor.   The sweep involves checks at restaurants, bars, convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores.

NSP investigators conducted the compliance checks with the aid of a grant from the Region Five Prevention Coalition.
