NEBRASKA – This week’s forecast is a classic example of Nebraska’s dynamic weather with a high fire danger on Wednesday as well as snow and ice warnings on Friday.
The National Weather Service reports that warm temperatures, anywhere from 62 to 68 degrees, gusty southwest winds reaching anywhere from 15 to 25 mph, as well as low humidity will create a very high fire danger across southeast Nebraska. On Thursday, slightly higher humidities are expected, but the fire danger is still possible. The NWS asks for citizens to avoid outdoor burning on Wednesday.
Once you put your winter attire away on Wednesday, you might have to get it back out again on Friday. The National Weather Service also reports that there might be a winter storm coming. The storm could accumulate 1 to 3 inches of snow in northeast Nebraska and possibly higher amounts in north central Nebraska. Icing and freezing rain is possible in some areas Friday morning.
Stay tuned to the forecast as it might change throughout the week.
