FAIRBURY – It all stated with an idea. An idea to construct a playground on the north side of town so children weren’t crossing over U.S. Highway 136 to get to the only playground located on the south side Fairbury.
Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury made that idea possible. According to Faith Lutheran Church member Amber Arner, construction on the new playground is set to begin this summer.
Back in October, hundreds of people showed up for the “Pancakes for a Playground” pancake feed which raised over $3,000 for the new playground. Arner also says the church has received generous donations, including $5,000 from Transcanada and $200 from Union Bank & Trust within the last couple of months.
Arner is thankful for those who have put effort and time into this project. Her children, Madison and Claire, are also excited to play on the new playground.
