BEATRICE – No students were injured in the collision between a school bus and a car Monday afternoon, in Beatrice.
Police Chief Bruce Lang says the bus was carrying 25 students at the time of the collision, which happened at around 3:30 p.m., at 8th and Court.
Police say a car driven by 24-year-old Zachary Askew, of Beatrice was southbound on 8th, approaching the intersection with Court Street. Askew told police the traffic signal had just turned red as he was proceeding through the intersection.
The school bus, driven by 63-year-old Eva Lampe was eastbound traveling through the intersection on the green light, and struck the car. The collision damaged the right rear passenger side and drive shaft of the car. The bus, owned by Mid States School Bus, had damage to the left front corner and a stop arm.
The driver of the car was ticketed by police. Neither driver was hurt.
