COLUMBUS – No injuries were reported after a school bus and a car collided on 23rd Street in central Columbus.
Police reports say a Fremont Public Schools bus was westbound on 23rd Street, in the outside lane. A 2013 Ford Focus heading southbound on Pershing Road, at 23rd Street, turned west, pulling out in front of the school bus.
The 72-year-old bus driver reportedly attempted to avoid the car, by swerving towards the inside lane, when it hit the rear driver side of the Focus. The 79-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was cited and reported to police that he did not see the bus, due to a glare from the sun.
Reports say the bus was carrying 49 passengers at the time of the accident. The bus suffered approximately $100 in damage, while the Focus suffered $1,000.
The accident took place at 7:38 a.m. on Thursday.
