LINCOLN – The Norfolk area added more jobs in March.
Preliminary labor statistics released Friday show that the unemployment rate for the area made up of Madison, Stanton and Pierce counties fell to 2.9 percent in March from 3.2 percent in February.
The Nebraska Department of Labor says the Norfolk area added 82 jobs in March and saw almost 100 fewer people apply for unemployment. The unemployment rate was slightly higher than the 2.8 percent reported in March of 2016.
Statewide, the unemployment rate dropped from 3.2 to 3.1 percent. The nationwide unemployment rate was down two-tenths of a percentage point to 4.5 percent.
