NORFOLK – There is light at the end of the tunnel – or at least the bridge.
Norfolk City officials said Monday that the ongoing Norfolk Avenue Bridge construction will likely be done within the next two months.
City officials say traffic is currently scheduled to reopen on East Norfolk Avenue during the final week of October. The contract signed with A & R Construction has a completion date of November 18th.
While the completion date is pending weather, there are signs that things are wrapping up. The north retaining wall for the trail has been constructed, 1st Street is back open and the bridge deck and rails have been poured.
In the meantime, city officials are still asking the public to utilize the posted detours to Omaha and Benjamin Avenues.
