Norfolk Man Arrested For Shoplifting, Drugs

NORFOLK — A Norfolk man is in jail after he was caught with stolen merchandise and marijuana over the weekend.

Norfolk Police Captain Michael Bauer says officers were called to ShopKo just before 8:00 PM on Sunday to investigate a shoplifting incident.  Officers located 23-year-old Brian Daughton of Norfolk in a vehicle in the store’s parking lot.  They retrieved hand towels and a women’s shirt which ShopKo officials say Daughton stole from the store.

Bauer says the officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while recovering the stolen items.  Upon a search, they found two large, plastic vacuum-sealed bags and a small baggy containing marijuana.  In total, police recovered 2.25 pounds of pot.

Daughton was arrested for possession of marijuana more than one pound and was cited for shoplifting.  He is being held in the Madison County Jail.
