Norfolk Man Sentenced on Sexual Assault Charge

MADISON, NE — A Norfolk man convicted of sexual assault will spend over a decade in prison.

23-year old Matthew Fisher was sentenced to 35 to 45 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an 11-year old relative.

Madison County District Judge Mark Johnson told Fisher that he had not lived a law abiding life and was a high risk to offend again.

In August of 2016, Fisher turned himself in to police after he confessed to touching a young child inappropriately. The Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Centered interviewed the 11-year old who confirmed Fisher had sexually assaulted the child on several instances.

Fisher won’t be eligible for parole until 2034 and will have to register as a sex offender.
