Norfolk Philanthropist Passes Away

NORFOLK, NE — There are those whose sphere of influence is so great it can be too immense to measure.

So it was with J. Paul McIntosh.

The well-known Norfolk philanthropist passed away on Thursday morning. Family members say McIntosh passed away after a bout of pneumonia. He was 92.

McIntosh was born and raised on a farm near Pilger. He served as a Sergeant T-3 with the 396th Military Police Battalion before returning to Nebraska, where he left an indelible mark on everyone he came into contact with.

A Rotarian for almost 60 years, McIntosh dedicated his life to community service, sitting on boards for a number of organizations including Faith Regional Health Services, Liberty Centre and Northeast Community College.

J. Paul was committed to the success and growth at Northeast, the names of J.Paul and his wife Eleanor adorn the nursing college at Northeast, which was dedicated in September of 2010. The also most recently pledged $500,000 as part of a fundraiser to expand the Norfolk Salvation Army.
