North Beatrice Intersection Construction Starting

BEATRICE –  Work is getting underway this week at a major U.S. Highway 77 intersection in north Beatrice.  That means a detour for trucks and other motorists.

A project that will widen and improve the intersection at 6th and Industrial Row is beginning.   R.L. Tiemann Construction, of Beatrice is the contractor.  Mayor Stan Wirth says the project will be followed closely by a major reconstruction on part of North 2nd Street, this summer.

Trucks accessing the Gage County Industrial Park will be detoured at the north edge of Beatrice at West Hickory Road, traveling west to Southwest 45th Road, then south.  Southwest 32nd Road is not being used, because of the presence of a bridge that doesn’t have a high enough tonnage rating, to handle the truck traffic.

Letters were sent to manufacturers in the Gage County Industrial Park, describing the detour arrangements.

There is no designated detour for cars and trucks, as motorists find their way around the intersection project.

On North 2nd Street this summer, the brick street will be re-installed in front of the Gage County Historical Society Museum, and 2nd Street between Ella and Grant will get a new concrete surface with improved drainage.
