NORFOLK, NE — For the second year in a row, The Zone and North Folk Outfitting have partnered up to give kids in the after school program an opportunity to see what Norfolk has to offer by kayaking the river.
“One of our big goals in our business is giving kids something to do. this is killing birds with two stones giving them something to do and getting the active by getting them on the water…”
This year Midwest Bank sponsored the event. Zone Director Levi Baber says the sponsorship ensures that no kid would be left behind who wanted to kayak.
“It’s great. This is growing each year we are getting more students to come out and do something they may not have an opportunity to do. This partnership works great because it’s showing that the community is working together for the kids.”
Some of the kids have never kayaked before, like Olivia Otto, who is up for the challenge.
“I thought it be fun because I’ve never done it. It may be kinda difficult, but also easy…”
Three years ago only 17 kids participated. This year 30 kids showed up.
Tony Stuthman of North Fork Outfitting along with Baber say they are grateful for Midwest Bank’s support.
