Pickup Driver Killed in Collision, on Snowy Nebraska Highway 112

BEATRICE – The driver of a pickup was killed Wednesday morning, during a collision on a partly snow-packed Nebraska Highway 112, three miles east of Odell.

The collision between a pickup and a semitrailer truck happened between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m., slightly north of the intersection of Nebraska Highways 8 and 112.

Chief Deputy Gage County Sheriff Doug Klaus says the pickup slid out of control on the snowy road surface.

The identity of the fatality victim has not been released.  The driver of the southbound semitrailer was not injured.   Klaus said road conditions likely were a factor in the accident.

Nebraska Department of Transportation personnel helped direct traffic at the scene.   The collision sheared off the bed of the pickup, which went off the west side of the highway, remaining on its wheels.   The semitrailer truck came to rest on the southbound lane of the highway.

Gage County Sheriff’s Officers, the Nebraska State Patrol and Gage County Attorney, who serves as coroner, were summoned to the scene.
