PIERCE – The Wayne High marching band joined four other high schools Wednesday during the Pierce Marching Contest.
From Pierce, Wayne joined Crofton, O’Neill and Schuyler’s marching bands.
In the end Wayne High received a division one rating (superior). Also receiving superior ratings were Crofton, O’Neill and Pierce while Schuyler took home a division two rating (excellent).
O’Neill was awarded the best color guard as Crofton won the sweepstakes trophy for most overall points.
The Wayne High marching band will perform at Wayne State College on Friday and Saturday of this week. On Friday, the band will do their usual routine during the Blue Devil home football game at 7 p.m. against West Point-Beemer while also taking part in the WSC Band Days Parade at Wayne State College on Saturday.
The Junior High band will also play on Friday during the football game.
Upcoming Wayne High marching competitions include the Ashland Marching Contest on Saturday, October 14 and the NSBA State Marching Contest scheduled for Saturday, October 21 in Lincoln.
