Ponca State Parks Host Two Free Events Saturday

PONCA – February is bringing in a whole new set of weekend activities at Ponca State Park.

On Saturday, February 10th, Ponca State Park visitors can enjoy two free, educational activities, the first of which, will focus on being an animal detective. At 9:30 a.m., participants will become experts at identifying different creatures’ tracks and scat. Those in attendance will solve a mystery and even get to make their own edible animal scat.

At 2 p.m., the public is invited to learn about the various types of snakes that call Nebraska home. Those in attendance will also separate serpent facts from myths. Those brave enough will also have an opportunity to touch a variety of snakes. This event will be at the Resource & Education Center.

Ponca State Park is also having a snowman contest. The first-place winners will receive a free night stay in one of the park’s mini-lodges. For contest details, stop in at the Resource & Education Center.
