FREMONT – The District 6 probation office outgrew their location and needed to find a new home, which luckily they did!
According to Patty Lyon, District 6 chief probation officer, in 2016 they were given seven new staff members, all of which were hired to work in the Fremont probation office, and so there just was not enough room for everyone.
“We outgrew our space. This newer building will be 10,000 square foot, so it’ll allow us to accommodate for the new staff and provide more groups and services through the day and evening,” said Lyons.
Lon Strand, District 3 member of the Dodge County Board of Supervisors, said they are also moving the probation office out of the downtown area to accommodate for the increase in clients.
“Because of the way the state probation office is run, they’re putting more people on probation instead of in prison,” said Strand.
The District 6 probation office is currently located in Fremont at 320 N Main St. Lyons said sometime in 2018 they will be moving to the new location at 2860 W 23rd St.
The larger office space will provide more room for not only the new staff and increase in clients, but also the different services that the District 6 probation office provides, which includes: drug testing, anger management classes, cognitive classes and a variety of others.
