Public Hearing Scheduled For County Budget, Final Tax Request

WAYNE – The Wayne County Board of Commissioners plan on holding their regularly scheduled meeting this morning at 9 a.m.

From the Courthouse meeting room, Commissioners will hear several appointments starting with Highway Superintendent, Mark Casey giving his recent road/bridge project updates.

Community Liaison Jerad Reimers will update the board from Congressman Adrian Smith’s office at 9:30 a.m. followed by an opening to take action on bids for a tandem axle truck tractor at 9:45 a.m.

Then at 10 a.m., the public is invited to for Commissioners to receive taxpayer support, opposition or comments on the proposed 2017-18 budget. Currently the total tax dollar request is $4,590,091.02, a decrease of 3.8%.

Another public hearing will be held about 10 minutes afterwards pertaining to setting the final tax requests at a different amount than last year. The total valuation of Wayne County is close to two billion dollars ($1,908,675,422), an increase of $4.3 million. Also, the 2017-18 Wayne County Levy will be .240486, a decrease of $9.81 on $100,000 in valuation.

Wayne County Board of Commissioners will end their meeting considering about taking action on the 2017-18 budget.
