WAYNE – The regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting took place Tuesday morning to open the New Year.
From the County Courthouse meeting room, 12 positions and boards were re-appointed. The only change from the year past as that Dean Burbach will be taking over Randy Larson’s position as the appointee for Northeast Nebraska Economic Development.

Northeast NE Juvenile Services, Inc.: Larson/Jim Rabe
Northeast NE Public Health: Rabe
Northeast NE RC&D: Rabe
Northstar Service: Rabe
Region IV Mental Health System: Rabe/Burbach
Wayne Area Economic Development: Burbach/Rabe
Wayne County Safety Committee: Burbach
Wayne Business & Industry Committee: Larson
The elected commissioners will hold their same position as 2017. Jim Rabe will remain Chairman for the Board of Commissioners and Randy Larson will be the Chairman of the Board of Equalization. Dean Burbach will be the Vice-Chair for both boards.
Highway Superintendent, Mark Casey presented to the board his preliminary one/six-year projects. According to Casey, Wayne County finished 10 of the 19 one-year projects and are constructing the 11th one. Eight new projects will be added to this year’s one-year plan. A more complete list will be presented to the board in February.
All three commissioners, Deb Finn (County Clerk), Mike Pieper (County Attorney), Jason Dwinell (County Sheriff) and Marlen Chinn (Wayne Police Chief) all held an executive session within the Board of Commissioners meeting.
The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioner’s meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16 at 9 a.m.
