Sasse Praises House Vote Allowing States to Defund Planned Parenthood

Nebraskans know that being pro-life means supporting moms and babies with love. We want to champion life-giving health providers without funding abortion businesses.

- Ben Sasse, Nebraska United States Senator

WASHINGTON D.C. – A Nebraska U.S. Senator is encouraged by the recent passage of a resolution to roll back an Obama Administration directive.

Senator Ben Sasse praised the House of Representatives for passing legislation in regard to Title X funds. Sasse says the resolution would allow states to redirect funds to women’s health providers and community health centers across the country that do not perform abortions. Sasse called it a victory for pro-life Nebraskans.

“Nebraskans know that being pro-life means supporting moms and babies with love. We want to champion life-giving health providers without funding abortion businesses. The House took an important and compassionate step for life and it’s time for the Senate to follow suit.”

The House voted 230 to 188 to overturn the ruling, which blocked states from defunding such organizations as Planned Parenthood. The resolution now heads to the Senate, where Sasse is confident the body will follow suit with the House vote and send the measure to the desk of President Trump.
