Scammer Posing as Local Power Utility

DAVID CITY – The Butler Public Power District is warning county residents to be wary of a scammer threatening to shut off people’s power.

The Butler PPD posted on Facebook, late last week, that they were made aware of a person posing as the Butler PPD over the phone, and threatening to shut off local residents power if they don’t make an immediate payment.

The district is asking anyone who receives a call like this, to call 401-367-3081 or 800-230-0569 to make sure their account is in order.

The District also posted on Facebook that several homes in rural David City lost power on the morning of July 3rd, but stated that by early afternoon it had been restored.
