Search Warrant Leads to Arrest for Gun, Drug Possession

COLUMBUS – Columbus Police say a search warrant led to the arrest of a 25-year-old felon for possessing a firearm and meth.

Columbus Police Captain Todd Thalken says the department received information that their was a weapon/weapons illegally being stored in a local storage unit.

CPD then received and executed a search warrant at the location.  As a result, Derrik Zollars was arrested on charges for felon in possession of a firearm, possession  of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The meth was found on Zollars person at the time of the arrest, says Thalken.

The warrant was executed on May 31st, and Zollars was arrested on June 1st.

Zollars was found guilty of 1st degree sexual assault back in a 2014 Platte County case.
