Sentencing Rescheduled For Beatrice Drug Offender

BEATRICE – A defense attorney was granted a delay in sentencing yesterday, for a Beatrice woman convicted of possessing an illegal drug.   Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner granted a new sentencing date of July 5th, for Tiffanie Street.

Defense attorney Joe Casson said Street has not met with the probation office for the pre-sentence report, after being in custody.

Casson told the judge that the St. Monica program is willing to accept Street into a program, on July 6th.

Deputy Gage County Attorney Callyn Schuck did not oppose the defense motion for a new sentencing date.

Street turned herself in, on a bench warrant issued by Judge Schreiner.  He ordered Street to cooperate fully with state probation on the pre-sentence report.  He did not reduce Street’s bond amount.

The 25-year-old Street pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing methamphetamine.  She and others were arrested after police were conducting a drug investigation last fall, focusing on an apartment at 18-hundred Scott Street, where a child was present.

A syringe testing positive for methamphetamine was found on the top of a refrigerator.
