Shoplifting Suspect Arrested Near Beatrice Walmart Store

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested a man on suspicion of shoplifting electronic gear from the local Walmart Store.

Bond for Vicente Reyes was set at $5,000 in Gage County Court, after his arrest for the alleged theft of a blue tooth wireless speaker and headphones, valued at $69.

Walmart loss prevention personnel told authorities they attempted to stop the suspect before leaving the store, but he refused.  Reyes was detained by a Gage County Sheriff’s investigator just north of the store, prior to arrival by Beatrice Police.  The allegedly stolen items were located on the ground, next to where Reyes was being held.

Store officials report they saw the man cut security wiring from a box located in the store’s garden center, place an item in his coat pocket and then exit the south door of the store.

Reyes faces a March 3rd court hearing.  Court records indicate he has three prior convictions for theft in the City of Lincoln……two in 2013, and one in 2011.
