NORFOLK, NE — Sunset Plaza Mall was packed Sunday, and it was all for the love of reading.
Read Aloud Norfolk held their annual Children’s Day Festival featuring 30 vendors from around the area. Each vendor had an activity or game for the kids.
Mark Claussen from Read Aloud Norfolk says that “It’s all about free family fun. For each activity the kids do they get a ticket. For ten tickets they can exchange it for a free book.”
Claussen says they have between 1,200-1,500 books and anticipates getting rid of most of them.
“We want to promote healthy and successful families and children through reading aloud. One of those things is talking about why it’s important but providing resources, books, to families to make sure it happens. This is one opportunity to make sure that happens.”
The event has been going on for decades, Read Aloud Norfolk has participated the last 11 years.
Closeness says they appreciate the support they get from local business, the mall and the community.
