WAYNE – In just a short amount of time, Swans Apparel has introduced men’s clothing with such success that the guys are getting their own store space. Swans for Men, will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting and host Chamber Coffee Friday morning from their location at 204 Main Street in Wayne.
Owner Jennifer Claussen introduced men’s clothing to the “women’s store” in the spring, and business boomed to the point that Claussen wanted to expand the inventory without losing space for women’s clothing. Luckily, the space right across the street from Swans Apparel opened up.
“When the opportunity arose for this building, it just worked out perfectly,” Claussen said.
Claussen said expanding her business to men’s clothing helped fill a need for niches of clothing that weren’t being met in the community, like business-casual looks. Buying for men’s is a new challenge for Claussen that she’s embracing.
“I enjoy it, it’s fun, but is definitely different,” Claussen said.
The new men’s store has been operational since early October, but Swans for Men will host a ribbon cutting and Chamber Coffee with festivities stretching into the evening.
“In the evening from 5 to 9, we’re going to have an open house, so beer, popcorn and late-night shopping,” Claussen said.
Chamber Coffee will be at Swans for Men, across the street from Swans Apparel, at 10 a.m. Friday morning.
