WAYNE – The Wayne County Board of Commissioners held their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday morning from the Courthouse meeting room.
Prior to the Commissioners, the Wayne County Board of Equalization met to set the tax rates for the 2017-18 fiscal year. Board members approved the Wayne County tax rate of 0.240486, a difference of 0.009804 less from the 2016 total tax rate.
Moving into the Board of Commissioners meeting, members adopted the Cash-In-Lieu as an option to group medial insurance through First Concord Benefits Group, LLC. This was one of the steps to setup the cash-in-lieu program and Cafeteria Plan. County employees and/or spouse may opt to each take the $375 cash-in-lieu.
The Commissioners discussed about scheduling meetings for county employees to attend to become more knowledgeable about the program.
Wayne County Emergency Manager, Nic Kemnitz presented to the commissioners that a Debris Management Workshop is coming to Wayne County. The last time this workshop took place was prior to the 2013 Wayne tornado.
On Thursday, October 19 several northeast Nebraska counties are invited to attend the workshop at the Wayne Fire Hall, located at 510 Tomar Drive. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. the workshop will review current plans, work with individual counties, update regional plans and new FEMA requirements.
Other member counties in the northeast planning, exercise and training region include Antelope, Burt, Cedar, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Stanton and Thurston. RSVP by Sunday, October 15 to your County Emergency Manager. Target audience members are any stakeholder with a responsibility for Debris Management after a storm or disaster.
The next Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17 at 9 a.m.
