Thefts From Vehicles on the Rise in Fremont

FREMONT – The Fremont Police Department has received numerous calls and reports of thefts from vehicles within the city with varying levels of loss.

This week alone, FPD says they’ve received between 10 and 20 reports of thefts from vehicles, many of which were left unlocked. The estimated loss in each runs from as little as $20 to as much as over $600 with the thefts occurring mainly in the northern parts of the city.

FPD advises residents to remove all valuables from vehicles even if they are locked and to lock all vehicles when left parked. Anyone with information about any of the thefts is advised to contact Fremont Crimestoppers at 402-727-4002 or submit a tip via the Fremont Police Department’s Facebook page.

Fremont Police are also looking into a theft complaint received this week when someone stole items from the victim’s locker at a local gym.

FPD took the complaint on Thursday from the Fremont YMCA in the 800 block of N. Lincoln as the victim reported the theft while they were at the YMCA. Investigation revealed that the theft happened sometime on Monday when someone went into the victim’s unsecured locker and stole numerous items from it. The estimated loss is valued at $286.
