Tornado Watch Issued for Northeast, North Central Nebraska

UNDATED – Parts of northeast and north central Nebraska could be in for a long night of severe weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Antelope, Boyd, Brown, Garfield, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Rock and Wheeler counties until 10 p.m.

NWS forecasters say they are expecting a series of storms to begin in the watch area this evening, bringing with them wind gusts of 70 miles per hour and widespread hail up to apple-size.

The weather service says a few tornadoes are likely in the watch area, which also includes portions of South Dakota and Minnesota.
