WINSIDE – The Winside Tour of Homes and Craft Show is happening Saturday December 2nd, but this year there’s a twist. The homes showing off will be geared more towards the man of the house.
A shortage of homes willing to participate in the tour this year meant co-organizers Vicky Owen and Susie Rabe had to get creative.
“There’s a few men in town that have done some work in their garages and watch the football games and have little get together and, so we just thought ‘well, let’s do a man cave tour,’” Owen said.
Tickets will be available at the sight of the craft show, the Marotz Seed Building at 307 Main Street in Winside. At 12:30 Saturday afternoon, the Summer Rec program is opening their food stand, and the craft show runs from 1-5 p.m. The craft show was popular last year, which has allowed it to grow.
“We had a really good turn out last year, and we got double the vendors coming this year,” Owen said. “It turned out so well and other vendors heard about it, so we’ve doubled and we had 17 vendors last year and we have 30 coming this year.”
Beer will be available for purchase and there will be a wine tasting hosted by the 4th Jug at 1 p.m. as well. From 1-3, ticket holders can tour Winside’s man caves and from 3-4:30, Santa will be at the Marotz Seed Buildings and at 4:30, there will be a gift basket drawing.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Weible Memorial Ballpark to help with the Summer Rec Program.
“It takes a lot to run any program and people like to come out to the wine tasting and the craft shows and have a reason to get together, so why not raise a little money to put back into our little community,” Owen said.
