Cedar County, NE – The Cedar County Sheriff’s office confirmed a train derailed near Belden late Saturday night.
Citizens near the derailment say the train spilled corn into a field near Highway 20 about one mile from Belden. There are no reported injuries.
BNSF Public Affairs Director Andy Williams says the derailment occurred at 10:03 PM Saturday evening. There are 114 cars on the train but only nine of them derailed. BNSF crews are on the scene cleaning up the spill and getting the cars back on the track. They have no estimate for when the railway will be back open.
