Winside Celebrates Old Settlers This Weekend

WINSIDE – Winside’s Old Settlers celebration is set for Father’s Day weekend, June 16th through the 18th.

Friday’s festivities feature slow pitch softball from 6-10 p.m. The double-elimination tournament costs $85 per team with an eight team maximum and will conclude Saturday. There will be cash prizes and a traveling trophy.

Saturday’s activities include a 5K Run/Walk and kids fun run at 9 a.m. Those who pre-register will receive t-shirts. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids. The proceeds will go to the program or activity of the runner’s choice at Winside Public Schools. At 11 a.m., the sand volleyball tournament begins and at 2 p.m., those 18 years old and older can participated in the 5-point pitch tournament. From 4-7 p.m., Nebraska Game & Parks will be on hand with activities for kids. The Old Settlers street dance featuring Abby Nicole starts at 7 Saturday night. The cost is $10 per person and ID is required. The gate proceeds will go towards park reservations.

Sunday will see the Car/Truck/Tractor Show from 1-4 in the afternoon. Registration starts at noon at the Marotz Seed/Fontanelle Hybrids building. At 1, there will also be a single elimination horseshow tournament. The Lied Winside Library and Winside Museum will host open houses on Sunday, the later celebrating their 30th anniversary.
