Winter Weather Advisory Ending, For Much of Southeast Nebraska

BEATRICE – The Beatrice and Tecumseh areas saw a band of heavy, wind-driven snow move through the area at mid-Thursday morning.

Visibility in rural areas was limited to less than a quarter-mile, at times.   Beatrice received about three inches of snow, and streets were partly snow covered.

Beatrice City Street crew plows were clearing the two major highways through the community…. U.S. 77 and U.S. 136…as northwest winds gusting to nearly 40 miles per hour blew snow over newly plowed roads.

The National Weather Service canceled a Winter Weather Advisory for several counties to the west of Gage and Lancaster Counties.   The advisory was narrowed for Southeast Nebraska to areas from Beatrice to the east.  It is scheduled to be in effect through noon, Thursday.

The advisory also covered much of northwest Missouri and Southwest Iowa.  Parts of western and northern Iowa remained under a Winter Storm Warning, as of late Thursday morning.
