Wildcat Women’s Soccer Pitches Third Shutout, Back-To-Back Conference Wins

MOORHEAD, MN – The Wayne State College women’s soccer team took back to the road for two NSIC matches in three days.

WSC started with a Friday late afternoon visit to MSU Moorhead.

The ‘Cats were outshot in the game 15-14, but won the shots on goal total 10-4.

Following a scoreless first half, junior Natalie Rech would find the back of the net for WSC in the 75th minute (75:22). That would be the only goal of the game, which found Wayne State winning 1-0 to improve to 3-3-3 (2-2-2 NSIC) while the Dragons are now 1-5-2 (1-4-1 NSIC).

MSU Moorhead recorded five corner kicks compared to four from WSC while also picking up nine saves.

Sophomore Lauren Fleming put both her shots on goal as junior Brook Buzzell, junior Christina Stasi, junior Samantha Phillips and sophomore Carleigh Wilson each had a shot on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Grisham tallied four saves in 90 minutes.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team is off Saturday, but back in action on Sunday when the ‘Cats visit Northern State in Aberdeen, South Dakota at 1 p.m.
