MINOT, N.D. – The Wayne State College Wildcat volleyball team concluded their North Dakota road trip Saturday afternoon.
#21 WSC visited Minot State University with a 12-match winning streak on the line. The ‘Cats picked up a four-set win over Minot State (25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15). Wayne State College is now 12-6 (6-3 NSIC) while the Beavers fall to 3-14 (0-9).
Senior Erin Gross went off for a 20-kill performance with two block assists, followed by redshirt freshman Jaci Brahmer added 15 kills as well as three block assists and freshman Alyssa Ballenger tacked on another nine kills and 10 digs. Junior Megan Gebhardt recorded a double-double with 51 set assists and 12 digs. Sophomore Haley Kauth led the team in digs with 19 while sophomore Katie Stephens tallied another 16.
Both teams compared in the hitting percentage, with WSC hitting .304 compared to Minot State’s .233. The ‘Cats had seven blocks compered to three from Minot State while WSC also had seven aces to just one from the Beavers.
Wayne State College will bring their five-game winning streak to Wayne on Friday and Saturday, October 13-14. WSC will entertain Northern State on Friday at 6 p.m. and MSU Moorhead on Saturday at 1 p.m.
