WAYNE – The 22nd ranked Wayne State College volleyball team took part in one of their final home games of the regular season Friday night.
From Rice Auditorium, WSC played host to St. Cloud State University. SCSU swept the ‘Cats in St. Cloud, Minnesota earlier on the season.
This time around it was all Wayne State picking up the three-set sweep (25-17, 25-19, 25-21). WSC is now 19-10 (12-7 NSIC) while SCSU falls back to 16-13 (8-11 NSIC).
Sophomore Katie Stephens paced the Wildcats at the net with nine kills and seven digs, followed by freshman Alyssa Ballenger with eight kills and senior Erin Gross added another seven kills. Junior Megan Gebhardt tallied 31 set assists while sophomore Haley Kauth tacked on a team-high 17 digs. Freshman Hope Carter produced 11 digs.
WSC outhit the Huskies, .195 to .126 while recording four service aces compared to one from SCSU.
#22 Wayne State College will close out their season Saturday at 4 p.m. with #6 Minnesota Duluth coming to town.
