WAYNE – Following a non-conference home win earlier in the week the #22 Wayne State College volleyball team was back a home for a NSIC match.
From Rice Auditorium, the ‘Cats played host to Minnesota Crookston Friday evening in front of a crowd of 511.
WSC would notch their second straight sweep of the week, third of the season over the Golden Eagles (25-16, 25-19, 25-16). Wayne State is now 9-6 (3-3 NSIC) while Crookston falls back to 4-10 (1-5 NSIC).
Redshirt freshman Jaci Brahmer paced WSC at the net with 16 kills and three block assists while senior Erin Gross added 12 kills and three block assists. Junior Megan Gebhardt led the team in set assists with 40 while sophomore Haley Kauth along with freshman Alyssa Ballenger posted a team-high 19 digs.
WSC outhit UMC, .243 to .105 while picking up two aces compared to one from the Golden Eagles and seven total blocks.
#22 Wayne State College is back in action Saturday afternoon when Bemidji State comes to town for a 1 p.m. start time.
