#4 Burke Holds Off Norfolk For Big Road Win

NORFOLK – #4 Omaha Burke made big plays down the stretch, defeating Norfolk in an always-hostile road environment, 55-49.

Burke senior Shereef Mitchell dazzled in the first half, carrying the Bulldogs with 10 first quarter points as Burke built an 11-point lead.

But Norfolk came roaring back in the second quarter, outscoring Burke in the 2nd quarter 16-5 to head to the half tied.

The Panthers would take a four-point lead in the third quarter, but Burke would answer. Led by Xavier Watts’ nine third quarter points, the Bulldogs took the lead back and would not surrender it.

The win was a bounce-back for Burke after a one-point loss to Westside the night before. Norfolk saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.
