LINCOLN – For the third year, the Riverside Chargers have fallen in the semifinals.
The Chargers fell to Mullen 54-52 in the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Friday night.
RHS got off to hot start, taking an 11-0 lead to start the game, before Mullen pulled it back within five.
From there, Riverside maintained a solid, 5-8 point lead for most of the 1st half. A late Lance Moore three, pulled the Broncos within three points, with the score 29-26 at halftime.
In the second half, Mullen was able to take a lead early and then exchanged it back and forth throughout the 4th quarter, until the score was 52-52 with two minutes left.
It would stay that way until the Broncos were able to score under the basket to take a two point lead with 3.6 seconds to play. Mullen would then stop the Riverside inbounds pass and take the game.
Senior Noah Volasek led the way for RHS with 19 points, freshman Tredyn Prososki scored 17 in the loss.
Mullen’s Lance Moore was the Bronco high scorer with 15 points.
Mullen will play in the D2 state title game at 8:45 on Saturday night. Riverside will play in the third place game at 3 p.m. at Lincoln East.
