LINCOLN – #5 Randolph and #8 Guardian Angels Central Catholic took to the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln Friday morning.
The Bluejays of GACC jumped out to an 18-8 first quarter lead before Randolph countered back with their own 18-9 second. GACC remained ahead at half, 27-26. Guardian Angels Central Catholic then outscored Randolph in the third (11-5) and fourth (19-14) quarters to win 57-45. GACC is now 16-13 overall as the Cardinals fall to 18-7.
Guardian Angels Central Catholic was led in scoring by senior Nolan Plagge with 18 points. Senior Kobe Slaughter followed with 14 points and senior Andrew Guenther added another 10 points.
Senior Logan Nordhues paced Randolph in scoring with 14 points as sophomore Merrix Denn tacked on another 12.
GACC will match-up with defending D1 champions in #2 Lourdes Central Catholic of Nebraska City at 11 a.m. Saturday at the PBA. LCC defeated #3 Lutheran High Northeast 47-39 as Randolph will see LHNE at 1 p.m. at Lincoln East.
