Battle Creek Finishes Second After Opening Day Of State Wrestling Competition

OMAHA – During the afternoon/evening session from day one of the 2017 NSAA State Wrestling Championships it’s a close fight for second place.

From the Century Link Center in Omaha Valentine is leading all 57 Class C teams with 79 points. The top area team is Battle Creek coming in with 37 points and a two-way tie for third at 35.5 points between David City and Raymond Central.

Other northeast Nebraska teams’ team scores found O’Neill (sixth – 32), Norfolk Catholic (T-15th – 18), Wakefield/Allen (T-23rd – 11), Wisner-Pilger (28th – eight), Crofton/Bloomfield (T-29th – seven) and Pierce (T-34th – four).

Class C will join Class B during the fourth session on day two, Friday at 12:30 p.m., for first and second round consolation matches. All classes will then be on the mat at 5 p.m. for semifinals and third round consolation matches.

Classes A and D will open the second day at 9:30 a.m.
