LAUREL – The Wayne High boys golf team and several other area programs took part in the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Golf Invitational from the Laurel Country Club Thursday.
The 18-hole event was won by Randolph with a team score of 326, followed in second by Hartington Cedar Catholic with a 333 and Oakland-Craig place third with a 355. Pierce (fourth – 359), Ponca (fifth – 363), Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (sixth – 377), Tekamah-Herman (seventh – 395), Crofton (T-eighth – 395), Wayne High (T-eighth – 395), Homer (10th – 396), Hartington-Newcastle (11th – 400), Wakefield (12th – 403), Madison (13th – 439) and LCC JV (14th – 452).
Mason Stubbs of Randolph won the LCC Invite with a score of 75, followed by Matthew Schaefer from HCC in second with a 76 and Cade Linville from Randolph finished third with an 80.
Sophomore Jonah Brodersen led Wayne High with a 14th place finish shooting an 88. Other Blue Devil scores included freshman Shea Sweetland (98), sophomore Payton DeWald (100), junior Austin Fernau (109) and freshman Israel Rodriguez (120).
Karsen Klooz was the top LCC golfer on the home course finishing tied for 15th with an 89.
Wakefield’s top golfer was Matt Christensen tying for 21st with a 91.
The Wayne High boys golf team is back in action on Tuesday, April 18 at the Blair Invite from River Wilds Golf Club starting at 9 a.m.
