SCHUYLER – Eight varsity girls and boys track & field teams took part in the Fred Arnold Invitational Thursday.
From Schuyler Blair took home both the girls and boys team title.
In the girls division Blair scored 114 points, followed in second by David City Aquinas Catholic with 102.5, Columbus Scotus placed third with 102 points and Wayne High rounded out the top four teams with 87 points.
Wahoo (fifth – 57), Columbus Lakeview (sixth – 46.5), Schuyler (seventh – 16) and Logan View (eighth – two).
Kylie Hammer paced the Blue Devil girls with three first place finishes. She won the 200-meter dash (27.54), set a new meet record in the long jump (17’ 2 ½”), and took first in the triple jump (36’ 5”).
Jenna Trenhaile also came away with a first-place mark in the discus (123’ 3”) while Gabi Meyer won the 800-meter run (2:32.84).
The 4X400-meter relay (Trenhaile, Kiara Hochstein, Meyer, Hammer) won the event in a time of 4:18.81. The 4X800-meter relay team (Allison Echtenkamp, Hochstein, Molly Hoskins, Meyer) took second in 10:30.1. The 4X100-meter relay (Hailey Becker, Ashton Boyer, Kennedy Maly, Sidney Biggerstaff) finished fifth in 55.6.
Biggerstaff finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.89) as Kelsey Boyer took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (52.8).
Echtenkamp placed fourth in the 800 (2:39.65), Hochstein finished sixth (2:41.29) and Meyer also took sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:07.26).
Other field events saw Shania Anderson tie for sixth in the high jump (4’ 6”), Kennedy Maly tied for sixth in the pole vault (7’ 6”).
During the boys division Blair received 131.5 points, followed in second by Wayne High scoring 101, Wahoo took third with 92 points and David City Aquinas Catholic finished fourth with 79.5 points.
Columbus Lakeview and Columbus Scotus each tied for fifth (35), Logan View (seventh – 29) and Schuyler (eighth – 24).
Grayson McBride led the Blue Devil boys with three first place marks. He won the high jump (6’), took first in the long jump (19’ 11 ½”) and won the triple jump (41’ 1”).
Christian Rogers won the 200-meter dash (24.27) while placing second in the 100-meter dash (11.91).
Cody Rogers took third in the high jump (5’ 8”) and fourth in the triple jump (40’ 2 1/2”) as Mason Lee finished second in the triple jump (40’ 11 ½”) while taking sixth in the long jump (19’ 3 ½”).
Tyler Pecena finished third in the 400-meter dash (53.23) as RJ Liska took sixth (54.69).
Will Anderson took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.74).
The 4X400-meter relay (Aaron Reynolds, Nolan Reynolds, RJ Liska, Tyler Pecena) took second in 3:39.16. The 4X800-meter relay team (Tyrus Eischeid, Seth Hochstein, Lucas Longe, Nolan Reynolds) finished second in 9:39.01. The 4X100-meter relay (Tyler Pecena, Cody Rogers, Emil Hapanowitz, Christian Rogers) took third in 45.2.
In the field, Kaden Kneifl placed fifth in the discus (127’ 1”) and fifth in the shot put (42’ 6 ¾”).
The Wayne High track & field team is back in action on Thursday, April 27. WHS will compete in the Norfolk High Invite starting at 4:15 p.m.
