WAYNE – The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team hosted their only home invite of the season Monday late afternoon during the Wayne Invitational.
From the Wayne Country Club, Hartington-Newcastle was crowned champions of the girls division with 15 points while Norfolk Catholic won the boys division with 28 points.
Allie Rosener from Hartington-Newcastle was the overall 5k winner on the girls side finishing first in a time of 21:08.75.
The Wayne High girls finished third with 40 points, as senior Andrea Torres was the top Blue Devil finisher taking second place in a time of 21:48.67.
Other results for the Wayne girls were junior Gabi Meyer (fifth – 22:51.68), senior Molly Hoskins (16th – 24.55.91), freshman Emily Chamberlain (20th – 25:05.63), junior Sarah Greenwald (22nd – 25:36.91), freshman Andi Belt (26th – 27:52.94) and junior Madison Jenkins (29th – 29:09.08).

Senior Brian Santiago of Hartington-Newcastle crossed the 5k boys line first in a time of 17:16.20.
For the Blue Devil boys, they placed seventh as a team with 124 points. Freshman Christopher Woerdemann finished 15th in a time of 19:43.98 as the top runner.
Other results for the Wayne boys were junior Brandon Wacker (24th – 20:45.08), freshman Treyton Blecke (40th – 22:14.91), sophomore Cole Hobza (47th – 23:00.37), freshman Liam Spieker (54th – 23:52.40), freshman Lance Muhs (70th – 26:10.30) and sophomore Stuart Hasemann (75th – 27:16.97).
