LINCOLN – The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team took part in the 2017 Lincoln Pius X Invitational Thursday late afternoon.
From Pioneers Park in Lincoln, the Blue Devil girls posted a seventh-place team finish with 143 points while the boys took eighth scoring 236 points.
The top runner in the girls race was sophomore Lizzy Kramer of Pius (19:49) while the fastest runner in the boys race came from senior Jake Ralston of Papillion-La Vista South (16:12).
The Wayne High girls were led by senior Andrea Torres who came in eighth place (21:31.8). Other Blue Devil runners were junior Gabi Meyer (24th – 23:30.6), freshman Emily Chamberlain (36th – 25:09.6), senior Molly Hoskins (37th – 25:28.8), junior Sarah Greenwald (38th – 25:33.3) and junior Madison Jenkins (43th – 31:06.3).
Freshman Christopher Woerdemann was the top runner on the boys side for WHS, taking 34th in a time of 19:34.8. Other Blue Devil runners were junior Brandon Wacker (48th – 21:04.3), freshman Treyton Blecke (54th – 23:17), sophomore Cole Hobza (55th – 23:34) and freshman Liam Spieker (56th – 23:52.8).
The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team is back in action today for an Invitational in Norfolk at Skyview Lake.
WHS will host their lone home invite of the season on Monday, September 11 at 4:30 p.m. from the Wayne Country Club.
