PIERCE – Over the weekend, there were 14 varsity girls golf teams who competed in the Pierce Tournament.
On Saturday, from the Pierce Community Golf Course, Pierce won their own event on the 18-hole day with a 390. West Holt was two strokes out in second with a 392, followed by Norfolk Catholic in third shooting a 408, O’Neill placed fourth with a 425 and Hartington Cedar Catholic rounded out the top five teams with a 441.
Boone Central (sixth – 470), Wayne High (seventh – 495), Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (eighth – 499), Battle Creek (ninth – 509), Plainview (10th – 521) and Crofton (11th – 567) with complete team scores while Pender Thurston County (12th – 1317), Elkhorn Valley (13th – 2276) and Stanton (14th – 3119) had partial team scores.
Paige Peters of Thurston County was a part of a three-way tie along with Cedar Catholic’s Cassidy Ulrich and Pierce’s Sydney Erickson for first each shooting a 90.
Wayne High’s top finisher was Megan Keiser who took 25th with a 115. Hana Nelson followed in a tie for 28th (119), Kecia Schenk shot her personal best to finish tied for 35th (125) and Natalie Bentjen shot a 136 to tie for 42nd.
Wayne High girls golf is back in action for the Battle Creek Tournament from the Evergreen Hill Golf Course at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 11.
